What We Believe?

The church belongs to Jesus

All believers in Jesus become part of God’s forever family, otherwise known as the body of Christ or the church. At Vigilant Minds, we put an emphasis on the fact that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and as a local study group we seek to glorify God by being light and salt in the communities where we live and work.
“And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” Ephesians 1:22-23
Crosses
Statement of Faith

At Vigilant Minds we affirm the following key essentials of historic, biblical Christianity, as practiced by Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel RMCC.

1 - The Scriptures
The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inerrant Word of God, fully inspired and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21

2 - The Trinity
There is one living and true God, who is immutable and eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19-20

3 - Jesus Christ
God’s only begotten Son, Jesus of Nazareth, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He is Israel’s promised Messiah and God in human flesh. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried and rose again from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven and always lives to make intercession for those who believe in Him. He will personally return to earth in power and glory.
Matthew 1:23; John 1:41; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 7:56; Hebrews 7:25-27; Acts 1:11

4 - The Indwelling of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is given to all those who believe in Jesus and He becomes an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
John 14:16-17; Ephesians 1:13-14

5 - The Empowering of the Holy Spirit
All believers need to be continually filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to have godly lives and the boldness and grace needed to effectively witness to the lost.
Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 5:18

6 - The Sin Nature
All people are born with a sin nature and can only be saved by a personal faith in what Jesus has done on the cross, not by human merit, accomplishment or performance, but solely by His grace.
John 3:18-19; Ephesians 2:8-10

7 - The Ordinances
At Vigilant Minds we believe in two ordinances of the church – the baptism of believers by full immersion and taking communion. We share in these ordinances at RMCC.
Acts 2:38-39; Luke 22:19-20

8 - The Future
Jesus Christ will return to earth a second time, personally and visibly, to establish His millennial kingdom. His return will be preceded by the rapture or removal of the Church.
Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

9 - Eternal Life
All those who place their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation will spend eternity in heaven with the Lord while those who reject God’s free gift of salvation will experience eternal punishment.
Revelation 20:11-15

10 - The Church
All those who are born again are part of the Body of Christ and every individual has a place in the body and a part to play in the work of the Lord. RMCC is a local expression of God’s church around the world.
1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 3:15
